Tour de France–Grade Tech Powers Joel Stransky’s Hope Ride Tracking Platform

Nov 27, 2025

The Hope Ride from Durban to Swakopmund is now officially live — and supporters across South Africa can track every kilometre of Joel Stransky and the team’s 2,500km journey in real time, thanks to world-class technology built by Britehouse, the minds behind the Tour de France operations app.

Using the same level of innovation trusted by one of the world’s greatest sporting events, Britehouse has created a dynamic, cloud-powered tracking platform that allows the public to follow the riders’ progress from any device.

The platform gives audiences:

  • Live GPS tracking of the team as they move across Southern Africa

  • Interactive maps and stage updates for an immersive experience

  • Tour de France-grade stability and performance, even in remote desert stretches

  • A direct link to donate to the LumoHawk Foundation

This year’s Hope Ride is not just a test of endurance; it’s a mission to restore sight for children who cannot afford eye care. The addition of live tracking brings supporters directly into the journey, making every pedal stroke visible, shareable, and meaningful.

Follow the ride. Share the link. Support the mission. Track here: http://hoperide.co.za/

About the Lumohawk Foundation

The LumoHawk Foundation was formalised in 2012 but Joel Stransky and his friends have been raising money for charity for over 15 years. They have done many crazy endurance events to raise money and Joel himself has ridden the ABSA Cape Epic 14 times to raise money for the Lumohawk Foundation, which funds mobile eye clinics that facilitate the gift of sight to South Africa’s underprivileged children. Inspired by former President Nelson Mandela’s legacy of educating the nation and giving hope to future leaders, the Foundation makes sure that children can see well enough to learn, to play sport, and to become leaders in their communities.
